Junior Test Baker

LOCATION:

PURPOSE:

The Junior Test Baker is responsible for performing in-house bakery tests in compliance with standardized procedures (SOPs) and strict QA guidelines to ensure accurate and reliable results. The role also supports the commercial team with product demonstrations, troubleshooting customer applications, and contributes to new product development (NPD).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct daily standardized baking tests to assess baking characteristics in bread applications.
• Assist and support the R&D team in implementing new product development (NPD) and grist changes.
• Partner with the commercial team during customer visits, providing technical advice, demonstrations, and feedback when required.
• Review and update bakery test methods and procedures, ensuring they are current and suitable for the intended applications.
• Visit marketplace when needed to troubleshoot issues, resolve customer complaints, or support new customer development with the commercial team.
• Handle samples and perform analyses in accordance with established procedures, ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
• Maintain bakery equipment in sound condition through timely calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Support customer complaint investigations through baking trials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Higher Secondary School Certificate, University Degree or Diploma in Baking (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in test baking, flour application, or handling bakery ingredients.
• Knowledge of wheat flour functionality.
• Strong understanding of bakery ingredients, applications, and working principles.
• Good knowledge with bakery process flow and production methods.
• Ability to identify flour defects, apply corrective actions, and recommend product applications.
